Our 'Ova' cabinet by Dilara Kan Hon will be heading to Dubai this November to join Downtown Design in Dubai 8 - 11 November 2023 as part of ‘Anatolian - a showcase for Turkish designers’ curated by Isola Design.
Isola presents Anatolia at Dubai Design Week: A spotlight on Turkish design
Curated by the Isola curatorial team, Anatolia is a collective exhibition focused on Turkish and Middle Eastern design that aims to celebrate the rich Middle Eastern cultural heritage. The show is inspired by the Silk Road, an ancient trade route that linked the East and the West, and ran across Turkey, making it a vital hub for cultural exchange.
More than 20 Turkish designers, design studios and brands will present their projects and research within the Anatolia exhibition. For the occasion, Isola, in collaboration with Canan Eren from Grob Design, designed a booth recreating a Kervansaray, an ancient resting place for caravans and travelers where visitors will exchange ideas, enhance their network, join workshops and purchase a selection of lifestyle objects by the participating Turkish brands and designers.
"Being myself from Turkey, I am very excited that for the first time Isola is putting together a collective that aims to embody the new Anatolian lifestyle. The exhibition combines traditional and innovative techniques with contemporary and luxury design, which reflect the unique mix of ancient and modern influences that characterize the Anatolian region."

Showcasing for the very first time, Downtown Design is welcoming ‘Anatolia’, a unique and novel collective from Turkey presented by Isola design. The collective aims to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Middle East inspired by the Silk Road, an ancient trade route passing through Turkey that linked the East and West, making it a vital hub for cultural exchange.
The ‘Anatolia’ collective will represent a new Anatolian lifestyle that combines traditional techniques with contemporary and luxury design. The showcase will feature works by various brands including emerging and independent designers that will reflect the unique mix of ancient and modern influences that characterise the region. With a focus on celebrating Anatolia's rich cultural heritage, this unique presentation will showcase the region's innovative design spirit on an international platform.
Visitors will be transported back to a time where cultures and ideas were exchanged freely on the Silk Road, as the space will be designed to resemble a 'kervansaray’; an olden day resting place for caravans and travellers, once the lifeline of the Silk Road, which provided a place for travellers to rest and replenish their supplies. This presentation will bring a blend of modern luxury and ancient Anatolian heritage to Downtown Design.
With a focus on innovation and a nod to the past, this collective is set to make its debut on the international design scene, showcasing the region’s design potential through its cultural heritage. The space will also have a pop-up shop featuring lifestyle, home accessories and small objects by well-known and contemporary Turkish brands such as Atelier Rebull or Selamlique to further resemble the concept of silk-road.
